Frequently Asked Questions About Christianity

I'm not even sure there is a God. Can you prove it?

Open your mind and heart. Then go outside. Look at the trees and flowers. Listen to the birds sing. Go to a lake and just sit and watch. When I see all those things I realize there must be a creator, a supreme designer. Science explains many things, but not how beauty came into the world. Do you think the beauty of the world was an accident? If not, you have to believe someone designed it.

I'm not convinced. I need more proof

I don't need more proof, but there's proof out there. The bible can be proven true. For instance, it can be proven that there was a world-wide flood thousands of years ago. Plus, it's been proven that Noah's ark, as described in the bible, was large enough to carry two of every species of land animal. That's a story that many people find hard to believe, yet there's plenty of evidence to support it. Many times in the past, people have found "errors" in the Bible, like for instance years back, people pointed out that the Bible mentions a people called the Hittites, yet there was no evidence of any group of people called the Hittites. Today, museums full of Hittite artifacts exist. Most historians accept the Bible as an important historical document. Unfortunately, many of them don't accept the Bible as the Divine Word of God. One thing that helps some people realize it's not just a book is the way it's designed. The Bible has 66 books written by over 40 authors from all walks of life over a span ov about 1,500 years. Knowing this, isn't it strange how they all have the same theme? When you gather them all together, it's clear they all are a part of the big story, basically, "God makes man, man messes up and separates relationship with God, Jesus comes to take our sins and join us back with the Father." Then there's the miracle that it survived all that time. Many ancient writings were destroyed by weather, not the writings that became part of the Bible. Nations were trying to destroy it, and it still survived. Other historical writings from the same time period have far fewer records. "The Iliad", by Homer is the 2nd most prevalent writing with 643 records (with 500 years from the event to the first existing manuscript). The New Testament has 24,000+ early records of it, with only 25 years from the event (Christ's resurrection) to the first manuscript. By the way, people who could have refuted the fact that Jesus rose from the dead were still alive when the first manuscripts and letters were published. How come they didn't refute it then? There is lots of information like this. I could take up a whole website "proving" that the Bible is inspired by God and Jesus rose from the dead. I'm telling you, if you're not sure about this, do the research. There is more than one researcher who has set out to disprove the Bible and ended up becoming a Christian. As a start, I suggest you read The Case for Christ, and The Case for Faith, by Lee Strobel. He covers the big questions and provides evidence that supports the Christian faith.

OK, I believe in God. Isn't that enough to get me to heaven?

That's a start, but it doesn't mean much. Demons believe in God. To go to heaven, you have to make Jesus Christ your Lord and Savior. In other words, you must believe that he is the son of God and died for your sins, and then live your life the way Jesus wants you to.

I've done some pretty bad things in the past and pretty much totally rejected God. You don't really think that he wants me now do you?

Yes, in fact, that may be why you're reading this right now. Certainly if He can create the whole world, he can lead you to read something that may lead you to him, right? We are all sinners. There is not a person on Earth today who has not sinned. The bible tells us that none of us can earn our way to heaven. The only thing that gets us there is the Grace of God and our faith in Him. Once you believe that Jesus died for your sins, ask him for forgiveness, and all those sins are gone...erased...dead.

I believe and everything, I just don't like to go to church.

First of all, you probably have a great excuse, right? Maybe you think it's boring. If so, check out a contemperary service..electric guitars, backup singers, modern music, it's awesome! Maybe you think you don't have the time...C'mon, that's lame...you don't have 2 hours per week for God? Maybe you don't like to get up that early...they've got later services, sometimes even in the evening. Maybe you've got young children, and it's a pain...You can find a church (like ours) that has an educational program for kids of all ages during services, so you don't have to be shushing them the whole time, and they're getting something from church also! You can always find an excuse if you look for one. Every Christian needs the fellowship with other Christians, and time to worship and learn about God. Without church, we tend to start living without God in our lives.

I'm ready to make a life-changing decision to accept all this and become a Christian, so what do I do?

First, say a prayer. Tell God that you know you are a sinner (remember, we all are), and ask him to forgive you. Ask Jesus to come into your heart and tell him you want to live your life for him. Ask him for guidance and help in doing so.
Second, start attending church. All Christians need the fellowship and interactions with other Christians to effectively live the "Christian life-style". Make sure the churches you try are bible-based, meaning they use the bible as their "teacher's manuel". Also, find one that fits you, one that you enjoy attending. Third, start reading the Bible. I suggest getting an NIV (New International Version) with study notes at the bottom of each page. The Life Application Bible is a good one. I would suggest starting with John, then Luke, Acts, and Romans. That way you have read the Gospel, the history of the early church, and kind of an overall summary of Christianity with Romans. Don't stop there, that's just where I think a good starting point would be.

Why do you have all this on your site?

Good question. I started this site before I became a Christian. Once I became a Christian, I realized it could be a way of reaching some non-believers.

Why are you pushing your religion on us?

I've never understood why some people get so upset when Christians try to share their beliefs. Think about what motive I may have. To make money? Hmmm, no that wouldn't be it. How would I make money by adding this page to my site? To get you to think like I do? Why would I care if you think like me? Would I even know if you were? I'm doing this because I want to make sure you know the truth. Some day ( it could be in 30 seconds, 30 years, 30 decades) there will come a day of judgement. Before that time you have to make a decision. You can decide to accept the fact that there is a God, and a God who's capable of creating an entire universe is certainly worthy of worship. Or you can decide not to believe. That's like deciding against God. If you make no decision, guess what? That's the same as deciding against God too. You either decide to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior or you've decided to turn your back on Him. Which will it be? Think on this. Read up on it. But don't just ignore it. I'd like to see you in Heaven some day. God willing, I will.
