Info on Downoading .Wavs and Changing Your Event Sounds

*Downloading:

Depending on your web browser and .wav player, you can download a .wav in a number of ways.  Usually, when you click on a link to a .wav, it will play for you.  This does not mean it's saved.  To save it, either "right-click" on the .wav player after it has played, or on the link to the .wav before or after it plays, then choose "save as", name it and choose what file to put it in.  I recommend going to Windows Explorer and making a new folder called "sounds" or "wavs".

*To change your event sounds on a PC:

Go to the Start Menu at the bottom of your screen and go to "settings".  Then go to "control panel", then "sounds".  A screen will come up the says "sound properties", those are your event sounds.  You can change anything there.  Just click on the event, then browse your files for the one you want.  Again, if you have a folder called "sounds", it will always be easy to find your .wavs.

Not all E-mail programs have an E-mail sound notification, so please, no questions on how to change E-mail sounds.  The only ones I am sure of that have one are AOL (called "You've got mail" in your sound properties) and Microsoft's Outlook Express ("new mail notification" in sound properties).  If you can't figure out your E-mail sound or are unsure if it even has one, you might try looking in the "help" file of your E-mail software.

Many of my wavs are MPEG Layer-3, which means they take up less space, but you might not automatically be able to play them. The MPEG Layer-3 codec is not always automatically installed in all computers. To acquire it, do a search for MPEG-3, and download a Zip file. Instructions for installing the codec are in the zip file. Note that it must be installed, not just copied to the Windows system folder. Don't worry, though, because installation is quick and easy.

I hope this has helped.  Good luck!
